GRAND FORKS -- The University of North Dakota is now headed to Colorado Springs, Colo., this weekend.
The Fighting Hawks will play Colorado College at 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday in World Arena.
The re-arranging of the schedule comes after COVID-19 positive tests sidelined Omaha and Denver this weekend. UND was supposed to play Omaha in Ralph Engelstad Arena. Colorado College was supposed to play Denver.
The series between UND and Colorado College was originally scheduled for Feb. 12-13, but is being pushed up with the availability to play for both teams.
UND coach Brad Berry said Tuesday he supported the move.
"Our first mindset is trying to get all the regular season games within our league done, whether that's on a weekend or whether that's during the week," Berry said. "I think that's the emphasis right now as it should be. I do think, we as a league, if more teams come down with the virus and get compromised by not playing on the weekends -- if there are a few teams sitting out and a few teams still active -- maybe that's got to be on the table down the road.
"Right now, our focus is on playing regular season games and trying to get everybody that's healthy active from week to week."
