A second Jimmie hat trick in four days did the trick for the University of Jamestown's ACHA Division I hockey team Saturday night at Wilson Arena.
Freshman forward Jordon Kromm banged home three even-strength goals in a 3-1 victory over rival Minot State University. The win was UJ's second in seven games against the Beavers this season, with seven more scheduled to play against the in-state rival beginnig today (Jan. 17) at 4 p.m. in Minot.
Freshman forward Jake Huculak tallied three goals for the Jimmies in Wednesday's 5-3 loss hosting Dakota College at Bottineau.
Kromm opened the scoring four minutes into the game, assisted by Gage Thompson and Carter Johnson. Minot got one back in the second before Kromm scored unassisted to finish the second and received an assist from Jed Butler in the third.
Minot edged UJ in shots 21-20, with Tyson Brouwer back in net for the Jimmies and making 20 saves. The two teams combined for 25 penalties: 20 minors, a double minor, one major and three 10-minute misconducts for a combined 79 minutes.
UJ (8-7-3 overall) went 0-for-6 on the power play, while the Beavers went 0-for-7.
