Maple Valley-Enderlin -- the No. 4 seed out of Class A's Region 1 -- stunned No. 1-ranked and previously undefeated Harvey-Wells County in the first round of the state Class A football playoffs in Harvey on Saturday.
The Falcon's Dylan Lerud punched in a 3-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, lifting Maple Valley-Enderlin over the Hornets by the final of 15-14.
The Hornets led 14-7 at the half, aided by a pair of 1-yard TD runs by senior quarterback M.J. Stumpf. The biggest scoring play of the game came in the first quarter, as Dylan Lerud found Jordan Haselau for a 97-yard touchdown through the air.
The Region 2 champion Hornets are done for the season, as the Falcons (6-3) move on to face the Oakes Tornadoes in Oakes this Saturday.

Senior quarterback Tanner Purintun led the Linton-Hazelton-Moffit-Braddock Lions to a 10-point victory over the Westhope-Newburg-Glenburg Sioux during the first round of the state Class A playoffs in Linton.
Purintun completed 8 of 18 pass attempts for 96 yards and score, while also rushing for 97 yards and a touchdown. The Lions went up 18-0 by the half, behind a 10-yard TD run by Brock Nagel, an 8-yard Purintun pass to Dillon Doolittle for a score and a 3-yard Purintun rushing TD to put things away.
The Sioux got on the board in the fourth quarter on a Karlie Hancock 4-yard TD scamper.
Linton-HMB will host Milnor-North Sargent in the state quarterfinals this Saturday.

A pair of first-half touchdowns was all the Oakes Tornadoes needed to get past the Aggies in the first round in Oakes.
Oakes' Tanner Zetocha bowled in a 28-yard touchdown in the first quarter, and Adam Roney followed that up with a 6-yard run in the second to put the Tornadoes up 14-0 at the half.

The Aggies finally got on the scoreboard in the final quarter, on a 40-yard TD reception by Dylan Sundy.

The Aggies scored consecutive touchdowns in the fourth quarter, as the two-time defending state champions took down the Holsteins by 10 points in first-round Class A playoff action in Velva.
Velva's Zach Podoll bowled in a pair of touchdown runs of 35 and 3 yards in the final frame in the fourth to erase a 16-12 Holstein advantage. The Aggies recovered a Holstein fumble on New Salem-Glen Ullin's 25-yard line to set up Podoll's second score.
Holstein senior running back Cameron Morman rushed for 134 yards and a pair of scores, and he also surpassed 1,000 rushing yards on the season.
Velva will travel to Hazen to take on the Bison this Saturday in the second round.

A 17-yard TD pass to North Border's Alek Berg from Tyler Stockton erased a 15-14 LaMoure fourth-quarter lead and handed the Eagles a five-point victory over the Loboes in the first round of the state 9-man playoffs in Pembina.
The Loboes' Tyler Thielges posted a 4-yard TD run to open the scoring in the second quarter, and tossed a 23-yard scoring pass to Brady Thielges in the fourth. Brady Thielges carried 29 times for 106 yards.
North Border heads to Napoleon this Saturday to take on the Imperials in the quarterfinals.
