Deer hunters in several units in central North Dakota are asked to participate in the Hunter-Harvested Surveillance program during the upcoming big game seasons. Successful hunters are asked to turn in deer, moose and elk heads for testing for chronic wasting disease and bovine tuberculosis.
Units in central North Dakota include 2H, 2I, 2JI, 2J2, 2K1, 2K2, 3A4, 3B3 and 3C. Heads must be accompanied by an appropriate deer tag including the license number, hunting unit and date harvested.
Drop off points include; Ashley Super Value in Ashley, Barton Meats in Carrington, Edgeley Meat Processing in Edgeley, Jamestown Game and Fish office in Jamestown, Peoples Meat Market in Kulm and Chase Lake NWR office in Woodworth.
Testing for chronic wasting disease and bovine tuberculosis is routinely performed on a rotating schedule around the state of North Dakota.
