Napoleon-Gackle-Streeter's 6-0 overtime loss last Friday night to Hankinson almost knocked the team out of this week's state 9-man football poll, after the Imperials were locked into the No. 2 spot for most of the season.
As a result, North Star (8-0), Central McLean (8-0) and Cavalier (8-0) all leapfrogged the Imperials in the standings. North Star moved into second, behind Wyndmere-Lidgerwood (8-0), while the Imperials dropped all the way to fifth.
The No. 1-ranked Warbirds collected all 14 first-place votes. The Imperials and Warbirds will face each other this Friday night in Wyndmere in the final week of the regular season.
Nothing changed in this week's Class A football poll.
Still leading the way with all 14 first-place votes is Harvey-Wells County (7-0), while Hazen (7-0) and Stanley-Powers Lake (7-0) all still second and third, respectively Linton-HMB (6-1) again sits fourth, while Heart River (6-1) remained at No. 5.
