It was a tough night for Jamestown High School wrestling as it lost two dual matches to rival Valley City (40-30) and Bismarck Legacy (45-20) Friday night.

"We ran into a couple tough teams tonight," said Blue Jay wrestling coach Larry Eslick.

Jamestown once again won the majority of the matches against the Hi-Liners but also took three forfeits in the process.

"Our goal is to win more matches than they did," Eslick said. "We've been doing that consistently all season."

With the score tied at 30-30 Valley City picked up the last two wins to get the 10-point victory.

In the next match, Jamestown faced a senior heavy Legacy squad that took care of business against the Jays.

The biggest positive for Jamestown was the return of Noah Braun at 145 pounds. Braun hasn't wrestled since Christmas because of a knee injury and pneumonia. Braun won in a 7-4 decision and earned a pin in the second match.

"He's worked pretty hard the last couple weeks," Eslick said. "It's been a frustrating season for him but he did good tonight. We are excited to have him back"

Next up for Jamestown will be the North Dakota Class A Western Dakota Association Regional tournament on Saturday. The top eight in each weight class advance to state on Feb. 15.

"We're going to have quite a few kids seeded-nine or 10 seeded," Eslick said. "On paper we should have a pretty good tournament."
