JHS JV volleyball goes 5-1 at tourney

The Jamestown High School junior varsity volleyball team finished 5-1 at tournament at Cheney Middle School in West Fargo Oct. 1.

The Blue Jays, who are 7-1 in West Region matches, defeated Grand Forks Central, Fargo Shanley, Fargo South, Central Cass and Fargo Davies. Their lone loss came to Moorhead, tying them with the Spuds and Squirrels with the top marks in the tournament.

The Blue Jays also advanced to the Gold Division of a tournament in September before being eliminated by Central Cass. They also played Carrington's varsity to a 5-set match earlier in the season. The Cardinals are one of the top teams in Class B.

Team members are juniors Brianna Hart, Rebekah Horgan, Hannah Heilman, Kara Fix, Billie Buchanan, Sam Dick and Lindsay Hermanson, sophomore Erin Mullowney and freshmen Jenna Stilwell, Julina Niemeier and Allie Smith.

The Blue Jays have home matches remaining against Dickinson (Oct. 19) and Bismarck (Oct. 25). The West Region JV tournament is Nov. 5 in Mandan.
