After losing the first set, the University of Jamestown steamrolled back and into the North Star Athletic Association tournament championship match.

The Jimmies defeated Bellevue (Neb.) 23-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-22 on Friday in LaCrosse, Wisc.

Haley Glasoe had 12 kills and six blocks while Kaitlin Anderson totaled 12 kills and four blocks for the 23rd-ranked Jimmies, who defeated the 17th-ranked Bruins for the second time this season.

"It was a great win for us. I thought we came out and really competed hard and that's what you have to do against a top 20 team," UJ head coach Jon Hegerle said. "I thought we let set 1 get away, but to win the next three was great.

"I thought we played with great composure and kept the pressure on them and played extremely well."

With the win, the Jimmies improved to 25-11. They face top-seeded and No. 3-ranked Viterbo today at 5:30 p.m. in the championship match. It was also a big win relative to the national tournament as well. If the Jimmies beat Viterbo today they're in regardless, but building the resume helps if they don't.

"We're 23 and to beat 17 can only help us in the rankings," Hegerle said.

Aubrey Beaumont passed out 31 assists and Nicole Warren turned up 30 digs for the Jimmies.

Offensively, the Jimmies featured typical balance. Madison Wendel totaled nine kills, while Heather Bachmeier and Siri Jystad connected for seven each.

"I thought our middles did a really nice job offensively and blocking," Hegerle said. "It was an important match for us and other than that lull we had in the first set I thought our girls did a really nice job."

The Jimmies are 0-2 against Viterbo this season, losing 3-1 in Jamestown and 3-0 in La Crosse.
