The University of Jamestown men's volleyball team swept the yearly conference awards and put nine players on the GPAC all-conference teams as GPAC postseason honors were announced Tuesday.
Derek Owens, a freshman from Andover, Minnesota, was named GPAC Player of the Year, Derek Correa, a freshman from Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, was named GPAC Setter of the Year, Braden Neumann, a junior from Costa Mesa, California, was named GPAC Libero of the Year, and Riley Salmon was named GPAC Coach of the Year.
Owens, Neumann, Samuel Jackman, a sophomore from St. Jean Baptiste, Manitoba, Tanner Woods, a freshman from Huntington Beach, California, and Caylor Cox, a freshman from Helena, Montana, were named to the first team.
Correa and Clark Steele, a junior from Lake Forest, California, were second-team selections, and Austin Jacob, a freshman from Houston, Texas, and Zack Meyer, a junior from Wheaton, Illinois, earned honorable mention.
The Jimmies finished 6-0 in GPAC conference play and take a 20-2 record into the NAIA Men's Volleyball National Championship, which will be held April 20-24 in Des Moines, Iowa. The Jimmies will play Georgetown, Kentucky, at 4 p.m. on April 20, then have an off day before finishing pool play on April 22 against Park, Missouri, at 4 p.m.
