The University of Jamestown women's volleyball team swept the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Player of the Week honors in the sport for a second time in three weeks.
Anna Holen earned double honors being named both the conference’s attacker of the week and defender of the week. while Jackie Meiklejohn, the Jimmies' starting setter, earned setter of the week honors.
Last week, Holen averaged 3.6 kills per set in helping the Jimmies to a perfect 3-0 record. In a four-set win over Dakota Wesleyan, Holen had 17 kills and 26 digs, both season highs. In the Jimmies' 3-0 sweep of College of St. Mary, Holen added a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs. In the team's three matches Holen made just eight errors in her 109 attack attempts. In the back row, Holen averaged 5.5 digs per set, making one reception error in 66 attempts for a .985 percentage.
Meiklejohn averaged 6.6 assists per set last week, posting a career-high 35 assists in the Jimmies' win at Dakota Wesleyan. The junior recorded two double-doubles, 14 assists, 10 digs; 35 assists and 10 digs, last week. Behind the line, Meiklejohn served up three aces.
Jamestown is now 8-0 this season and 6-0 in the GPAC. UJ is slated to host Concordia University on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Midland University on Saturday at 5 p.m.
