LaMoure/Litchville-Marion fell in three to second-seeded Carrington Friday night at the Cardinals’ home venue in the District 5 tournament. The Loboes topped Barnes County North easily in the first round of the tourney Thursday evening.

LLM freshman middle hitter Heidi Steffes hammered home 13 balls past the Cardinals' defense and compiled a staggering six solo blocks over the course of the three sets.

In the back row, Nateal Rodin led the Loboes with 16 digs, while libero Risa Rasmusson and Molly Musland combined for another 17.

The Loboes will host fourth-seeded Griggs-Midkota in the final round of the tournament on Monday at 7 p.m. Carrington will advance to the district tournament championship for the second straight year. The Cards will face No. 1 seeded Oakes Monday at 7 p.m.

Wolves to face Lions Monday in District 6 showdown

Not even a first set loss could throw the Kidder County volleyball team off its game Saturday afternoon.

The Wolves faced and topped Medina/Pingree-Buchanan 21-25, 25-14, 25-18, 25-20 in the opening round of the District 6 tournament. Kidder County will face undefeated Linton/HMB on Monday at the Lions’ home venue. MPB will face the loser of the South Border and Strasburg/Zeeland game Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Things were clicking in the first set for the fourth-seeded Thunder. Allison Thomas and Calli Mack compiled 26 kills, while Thomas also passed up 24 balls to Lilly Bohl who had 29 total helpers. Libero Alaina Bosche led the Thunder with 35 saved balls and a pair of aces from behind the line.
