The Jamestown Miller Lite Merchants and the Valley City Saints split a pair of amateur baseball games at Jack Brown Stadium on Monday.
Seven errors doomed the Merchants in the opener as the Saints rolled to an easy 12-3 win. Valley City scored 3 runs in the top of the second and third innings and then buried the Merchants with a 5-run seventh.
Bryan Erstad had 3 of the Merchants 6 hits, including a double. He also stole 3 bases. The Saints pounded out 14 hits.
Greg Lunski was sharp on the mound in Game 2 as the Merchants earned the split, 4-1.
Lunski allowed just two hits with four strikeouts in 6 strong innings. Josh Shaw fanned 2 of the 3 batters he faced to get the win.

Leadoff man Dave Dafforn had two hits and scored twice for the Merchants. Steve Hirchert was also 2 for 3. Erstad had 1 RBI and scored once. Jeff Nold went 1 for 3 with an RBI.
The Merchants (6-2 overall, 2-1 Three Rivers League, take on the Moorhead Expos Wednesday night in Fargo.
