Sophie Miller of Montpelier High School has signed a Dakota Athletic Conference letter of intent to attend Jamestown College and compete in track and field.
Miller, who played volleyball, basketball and track for Litchville-Marion-Montpelier, will join the JC throwing contingent under coach Kathryn Lemm. The Adrian native will join the Jimmies in the second semester after she completes basic training with the National Guard.
"Sophie is an exceptional student and good all-around athlete," JC head women's track coach Jim Clark. "Coach Lemm really likes Sophie's attitude and potential in the throwing events."
She has personal bests of 98-6 in the discus and 97-5 in the javelin, qualifying for state in the discus.
"Sophie is a willing worker and very approachable. I think she will see a lot of success both academically and athletically at Jamestown College."
