Marlyn Seidler had a victory slip through his grasp last weekend at Jamestown Speedway. History wouldn't repeat itself during Tri-City IMCA Modified Series action at the track on Saturday, June 29.

Seidler, who began his career in 1974, led 29 of 30 laps from the outside pole to capture the third night of the six-race Tri-City mod tour. The 66-year-old racing veteran from Underwood, N.D., broke an upper control arm while leading the June 22nd feature here and wound up second to Fargo's Casey Arneson.

"The car's good, and it was good last week until we broke that A-frame," Seidler said. "That really cost me. But tonight we proved it, I guess."

Seidler shot to the lead on the outside on the opening lap and battled Jamestown's John Corell Sr. for the top spot early. Corell started on the pole and finished fourth after leading lap 6 -- the only circuit not owned by Seidler and his No. 7 machine.

Lucas Rodin of Marion, N.D., mounted a charge late. Rodin worked his way to second from sixth but faded in lapped traffic at the finish as Seidler cruised to his fourth feature win of 2019 by 1.833 seconds over "The Nightmare" Rodin.

West Fargo's Allen Kent placed third and Dickinson's Travis Olheiser finished fifth behind Corell. All 30 laps were completed without a caution flag.

"Lapped traffic there was kinda playing a factor for both of us," Rodin said. "I think if I could've got to the high side maybe on a couple more of those laps, I mean we were right there. It just didn't work out in our favor, but a good night for us so I'm happy about that."

Rodin also placed second to Lisbon's Nate Reinke in Saturday night's WISSOTA Midwest Modified 20-lap feature. Rodin rolled to a B-mod feature win in Lisbon on June 23.

Arneson and Valley City's Greg Friestad have also notched Tri-City IMCA Modified Series wins this summer. The series wraps up with events at West Fargo (Aug. 2) and Mandan (Aug. 23 and Sept. 27).

Late caution lifts Reinke to victory

Nate Reinke wasn't exactly in the hunt to pick up his first Jamestown feature win of 2019. Until he was.

A caution flag with four laps remaining in the 20-lap Midwest modifieds feature wiped out a commanding lead built up by Jim Morlock of Pettibone, N.D. The untimely break in the action glued Rodin and Reinke to the back of Morlock's No. 97 and it was as if chum was laced into shark-infested water.

Reinke shot to the bottom on the restart and motored past both Rodin and Morlock en route to his second feature victory of the summer. Reinke led the final four circuits after Morlock led 15 of the first 16 from the outside pole.

"I knew the whole race that the bottom was good for a one-or two-lap run and that was it," Reinke said. "Made a good move, then got lucky and ended up getting a win."

Brennon Weight of LaMoure, N.D., drove from ninth in the 24-car field to third as Morlock slipped to finish fourth. Reinke's first win of 2019 came June 6 in Lisbon.

"I had no chance if the caution didn't come out," said Reinke, who started fifth. "I wasn't in a rhythm up in that high lane. I was trying to find speed and I think I kept finding a way to slow myself down instead. So it was just good luck for me that the caution came out."

Papke, Thorpe notch victories

The competition might as well be racing for second place if Drew Papke is in the house.

The Bismarck INEX Legends driver pushed his current winning streak to six-straight races dating back to May 31. Papke has piled up three feature wins at Mandan's Dacotah Speedway to go along with three wins in Jamestown.

Papke led the final 10 laps of Saturday's 20-lap legends feature, passing Bismarck's Steven Kuntz for the top spot on the sixth of seven restarts. Kuntz led the first 10 circuits from the pole, while Papke came from eighth in the 22-car field.

Dillon Thorpe of Monago, N.D., is on a roll. The bomber driver won for the second night in a row, leading all 15 feature laps from the outside of the front row.

Thorpe bested a field of 15 drivers as the race stayed green from start to finish. Seth Howe-Kellar of Wilton, N.D., made a late charge but ultimately finished 1.289 seconds behind the winner after contact with Jamestown's Billy Carow in the fourth turn on the final lap.

Carow spun and crossed the line eighth. Thrope also won Friday's feature in Aberdeen.

Saturday's total car count stood at 92 entries. Jamestown Speedway's Fireworks Spectacular, sponsored by Cavendish Farms, is scheduled for next Wednesday, July 3.

Racing begins at 7 p.m. with fireworks planned for approximately 10:30.
