It took all summer, but Jamestown Speedway finally offered up a little generosity to Lucas Rodin Racing.

Rodin held off Randy Klein and Brennon Weight in the Midwest modifieds, capturing his first Buffalo City feature win of 2019 during season championship night Saturday at the track. The driver from nearby Marion will be going for two in a row at the 48th annual Stock Car Stampede slated for Sept. 20-21.

"Finally had a little luck at this place," Rodin said in victory lane. "It's hasn't been all that great this year, so I guess to end it this way is a good way to do it."

The B-mod victory was Rodin's fifth Jamestown top-five in 11 features and fifth win overall. He's also driven to victory at tracks in Lisbon, Wishek and Devils Lake, but Jamestown was looking to ghost the 2017 Jamestown IMCA Modifieds track champion.

Rodin started the 20-lap feature in fourth, passed the pole-sitter, Laine Schwehr, to complete Lap 4 and pulled away from Klein and Weight to win by just over 2 seconds (2.110). Reise Stenberg held on to defeat Nate Reinke by 31 points for the season championship. Stenberg, Weight and Reinke eached posted three feature victories here in 2019.

Reinke trailed Stenberg by just eight markers entering the night, but trouble in the heat spilled over to the feature where Reinke was scored 23rd of 24 competitors. Stenberg started 11th and finished 10th.

"The car was good," said Rodin, who later drove from 17th to 14th in the 25-lap IMCA feature. "We've been struggling with this thing the last couple weeks and found a few things. I don't know if it made the difference tonight, but the car felt really good."

Klein's second-place run came in a car he's put together for this fall's big-trophy shows. The Lisbon driver completed just his second Jamestown B-mod feature of 2019.

"We decided to come back over to Jamestown to try some things before the end of the year specials," Klein said. "It gets around all right. We'll get better."

Rodin was simply happy to back out front and pulling away from good cars in Jamestown.

"I saw the 88 (Klein) and 28 (Weight) on the board. I was just hoping to keep hitting my lines ... it ended up being pretty good," Rodin said. "It's the best time to have everything clicking, so hopefully we can continue on and keep things going."

Arneson wins track title

A deep run through the IMCA Modifieds feature field ended up in a second-place finish for Casey Arneson, but it wasn't all bad.

The Fargo driver squeaked by Jamestown's Josh Eberhardt by 10 points to capture the season championship, after winning six total Jamestown features in 2019. Arneson led Eberhardt by nine points entering and cemented the title by navigating from 12th to runner-up.

West Fargo's Darren Pfau won the race. Eberhardt started 11th and finished third.

"I just wanted to make sure we finished the race chasing the points there," Arneson said. "Just ran out of time there at the end, but (Pfau) was just a little better than I was."

Pfau had just picked up his first feature win of the season on Friday in Fargo and led every lap in Jamestown from the outside pole. Arneson was able to duck alongside Pfau exiting Turn 4 over the final two laps, but forward grip to pass wouldn't be found.

"We've found some luck here lately ... this weekend's been unreal," Pfau said. "A few more laps it might've been a different story. But (the track) took a little rubber, so it was pretty hammer-down."

Carter keeps winning

The WISSOTA Street Stock national points leader got to the front on Saturday, but Jonny Carter wasn't overjoyed after some close racing with close friends.

Carter picked up his 22nd feature victory of 2019, staving off Jerry Lamb and Kyle Anderson before getting past the front row of Dustin Erickson and Kelly Hoerner to lead the final 11 laps. Lamb, Carter and Anderson started the 20-lap race third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

Carter, the track champion by 57 points over Bob Banish Jr., was holding a 23-point lead over Justin Vogel of Brooten, Minnesota, in the national standings last week. Lamb finished seventh, while Anderson took home a 20th-place DNF.

"It took me a little while to figure it out, and it kinda started rubbering up real good in (turns) one and two," Carter said. "I don't think I made many friends. I gotta apologize to Jerry and Kyle by the looks of it. But it's tight when we're racing on the rubber like that -- you gotta take it when you can."

Erickson, who started on the pole, held off Banish to finish second. It was Erickson's best Jamestown feature finish since rolling to second on May 12, 2018, one summer after he cruised to eight top-fives, two wins and the 2017 season title.

"Anytime you can be right behind Jonny is a good day," Erickson said. "I'm pretty happy after these last two years here to be up here. It's been a while."

Wiest, Carow earn titles

Donavin Wiest was unable to hold off Drew Papke in the feature, but he was able to sail to the first INEX Legends season championship at Jamestown Speedway.

Wiest led 13 of the first 14 laps of the 20-lap feature before Papke, who started ninth, drove by on the outside to win his sixth Jamestown feature of the summer. Weist, however, won the track title by 47 markers over Papke, as Papke missed two of Jamestown's 11 shows of 2019.

"I knew I had a pretty good piece underneath me tonight," Papke said. "We had it dialed in. Last couple weeks the track's been pretty similar ... I got up front there pretty quick."

The race remained green from start to finish, which allowed Papke to mount his charge at Wiest. Wiest, the winner of a pair of Jamestown features this summer, is the defending Stock Car Stampede legends champ.

"It was a fun race. I didn't know if I was in the fastest line or not and Drew came, I could hear him," Wiest said. "That's all right. Locked in the track championship and I thought that was pretty cool. I'll be back for the Stampede and try to repeat on that."

Billy Carow's fifth-place finish in the 15-lap bombers feature wrapped up the season track title by 30 points over Lane Stoppleworth. Carow rolled to three Jamestown feature victories in 2019, which is the same number of wins he racked up en route to winning the track title in 2016.

Aberdeen's Jayden Michaelsohn led the final 12 laps after starting fourth in the 22-car field to notch the win.
