Jamestown's Macey Neumiller won third place in the girls ages 8-9 division of the Elks Hoop Shoot Northwest Central Regional Championship on March 14 in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Neumiller, a 9-year-old student at Gussner Elementary and representing Jamestown Elks Lodge No. 995, converted 19 of 25 free throws in the competition, which included more than 100,000 boys and girls ages 8-13 who participated in the contest throughout the United States since last fall. Neumiller is the daughter of Michael and Michelle Neumiller and advanced to the region following successful showings at the local, district and state competitions.

The regional winners were scheduled to compete in the national championships on April 16-19 in Chicago, Illinois, but that event has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
