We'll kick off this holiday weekend with a breeze for most of Minnesota out of the northwest on Friday. Expect light winds and a comfortable arrival to the lakes of North Dakota Friday evening.
Saturday won't be a hot day, but expect a mix of 70s and 80s across the region. I'm seeing a few interruptions in the form of showers and scattered thunderstorms throughout the midday, afternoon, and evening hours. It won't be a wash out, but you may have to head in from your outdoor plans a few times during the day.
Winds look to stay light on Saturday. A little breeze here and there for South Dakota, but most of Minnesota and North Dakota are looking solid in the wind department for most of the day.
Futurecast has been painting a picture of scattered showers and thunderstorms to arrive on Saturday. As I stated above, it doesn't look like a wash out, but you may get a little wet out on the lake a few times Saturday.
Sunday is looking like the pick day of the extended weekend. Highs won't be all that hot, but still comfortable and warm for some. Winds don't look all that strong either.

Winds may be varying throughout the morning of Sunday and eventually settling in from the north at only 5-10 mph. A few areas could see some gusts into the lower teens.

Highs may stay in the 70s for the northern tier of the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest. The 4th isn't looking like a washout either, but watch for scattered showers and thunderstorms.
