Optimist Club cites athletes for awards

Nikki Iverson and Brandon Gange of Jamestown High School and AnnaLiesa Fauth and Brennen Grubb of Jamestown College have been named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.

Nikki Iverson and Brandon Gange of Jamestown High School and AnnaLiesa Fauth and Brennen Grubb of Jamestown College have been named Athletes of the Week by the Jamestown Optimist Club.

Iverson, a senior on the JHS track and field team, set new school records in the 55 hurdles (9.15) and triple jump (36-3.25) at the John Huth Invite in Aberdeen on April 1. Iverson won the 55 hurdles and triple jump and was second in the long jump.

Gange, a senior on the Blue Jay baseball team, had hits in his first 6 at bats in a doubleheader against Valley City on April 5. He went 5 for 5 in the first game with 4 runs and 3 RBIs and pitched 2 scoreless innings.

Fauth, a junior from Opheim, Mont., on the Jimmie women's track and field team, placed second in the 200 (26.18) and 400 (59.76) meter runs at the Northern State Invite on April 2.

Grubb, a junior pitcher on the JC baseball team from Lynnwood, Wash., tossed seven strong innings in a win over Mayville State April 3. He allowed 2 unearned runs on four hits with five strikeouts.
