Hannah Jorgenson, Kaitlin Mullowney, Emma Bennett, Karla Sherfy, Brooke Graalum and Synneva Sortland represented James River Figure Skating Club at the 38th annual Northland Figure Skating Competition held in Duluth, Minn., on Jan. 25-28.

The six local skaters competed in 18 events and earned 14 medals, including three first-place medals. The competition drew 478 skaters from 52 clubs in Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Canada.

The JRFSC skaters are coached by Mark Vasarhelyi.

Northland Figure Skating Competition

Hannah Jorgenson—Novice: Short Program 6th; Freeskate 3rd; Artistic 3rd, Spins 2nd; Jumps 1st.

Kaitlin Mullowney—Intermediate: Short Program 4th; Freeskate 3rd; Artistic 5th.

Emma Bennett—Juvenile: Compulsory 2nd; Freeskate 5th; Artistic 6th.

Karla Sherfy—Pre-Juvenile: Compulsory 2nd; Freeskate 1st; Artistic 3rd.

Brooke Graalum—Pre-Preliminary: Compulsory 7th; Freeskate 1st; Artistic 7th.

Synneva Sortland—Pre-Preliminary: Compulsory 4th; Freeskate 2nd; Artistic 2nd.
