ESPN Jamestown back in FM

KQDJ-AM Jamestown sports director Steve Linzmeier had been fielding a few phone calls from concerned listeners over the past month.

A planned upgrade in radio translators ended ESPN Jamestown's simulcast on FM 97.1 just after the new year, leaving area sports fans with only AM 1400 to tune into for the latest in local, area and national sports.

"I got more (calls) than I expected, which was nice," said Linzmeier, the voice of the Blue Jays and Jimmies. "That means people have been tuning in and listening to 97.1"

ESPN Jamestown's simulcast in FM is now back on its new home at FM 107.1, as 97.1 has transitioned to TED FM classic rock. Linzmeier said he's hopeful the new FM 107.1 translator will provide better service to local radio listeners.

"That's the goal," Linzmeier said. "The thing I keep hearing from people is Blue Jay football. They can't get us at night on the outskirts of town. So hopefully now on Friday nights you can turn on 107.1 and you're going to get Blue Jay football in those areas.

"The FM is crystal clear. I've been listening to it in my car all day and it's awesome."
