North Dakota outdoors shows provide indoor family fun

Outdoors shows are an ideal way to see, try and even buy the latest boats, RVs, electronics, fishing tackle and other outdoors accessories. With so many models from different manufacturers all under one roof, it’s easy to research and compare a range of products. Recently, though, show organizers have provided more fun and engaging activities for kids. From trout ponds to scavenger hunts to dedicated fishing workshops just for kids, today’s outdoors shows are sure to entertain the whole family.

Fargo Ice Fishing Show

Dec. 7-9, 2018

Scheels Arena — Fargo

Friday: 1-8 p.m.

Saturday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Sunday: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Fargo’s first dedicated ice-fishing show promises to be popular with avid ice anglers and their families. Educational seminars will be presented by Tony Roach, Jason Mitchell, Jeff Anderson and other ice-fishing experts. Scheels, Reeds, Thorne Bros and other retailers will be selling the newest tackle and accessories and will likely offer show-exclusive deals. The Kids Zone will feature games and prizes, and attendees can vote in the best in show awards. Admission is $12 for adults, $6 for ages 6 to 12 and free for ages 5 and under. Free parking is also available for this event.

 Red River Valley Boat & Marine Product Show

Jan. 26-28, 2019

Fargodome — Fargo

Friday: 12-9 p.m.

Saturday: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Sunday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This show will be packed with the newest fishing boats, pontoons, ski boats, personal watercraft and marine accessories. Numerous boat dealers will be on hand to answer questions, demonstrate features and offer show-exclusive discounts on boats, motors and accessories. Fishing and electronics experts will present educational seminars during each day of the show. Admission is $10 for adults, $2.50 for ages 6 to 12 and free for ages 5 and younger.

 Bismarck Tribune Sport Show

Feb. 15-17, 2019

Bismarck Event Center — Bismarck, N.D.

Friday: 3-8 p.m.

Saturday: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Sunday: 12-5 p.m.

More than 150 exhibitors will showcase boats, RVs, ice-fishing shelters, fishing tackle and other outdoors gear. The show kicks off on Friday with Family Fun Night, which features a scavenger hunt from 5-7 p.m. throughout the venue. Other family oriented events include a photo booth, face painting, balloon animals and the always popular Dockdogs competition. Admission is $4 for 13 and older, $2 for ages 6 to 12, and free for ages 5 and younger.

The long list of vendors includes resorts, lodges and fly-in camps from across the Midwest and Canada; boat and RV dealers offering show-exclusive discounts and incentives; and outdoors retailers showcasing the newest fishing tackle, electronics and other gear. Kids will enjoy a trout pond and a fishing workshop hosted by Scheels on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $10 for adults, $2.50 for ages 6 to 12 and free for ages 5 and younger.

The list of exhibitors and seminar speakers was not finalized when this article was published, but this show is always popular with Minot area outdoors enthusiasts. Count on seeing a number of boat and RV dealers exhibiting at the show, with many offering show-exclusive discounts. The Kid Zone features a trout pond, archery range and other activities. Admission is $5 for ages 18 and older, free for 17 and younger.
