The North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department, in partnership with Flatland Trail Blazers, is holding a Youth Safety Course at the Harvey Fire Hall at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7.

“We want snowmobiling in North Dakota to be enjoyable, where generations can connect through a shared experience. Part of ensuring that fun on the 2,800 miles of groomed trails in North Dakota is understanding the need for safety when operating snowmobiles, and that is what we focus on with this course,” said Anton Hillig, motorized recreation coordinator.

Snowmobilers ages 10 and older must possess a Snowmobile Safety Certification or a driver’s license to legally operate on public land, including ditches and state snowmobile trails.

Preregister by calling (701) 328-5366 or email ahillig@nd.gov. The Flatland Trail Blazers are providing dinner and covering the cost for all the students attending the class.

Additional classes will be held throughout North Dakota this winter. Information on upcoming classes can be found on the North Dakota Parks and Recreation Department’s website: http://bit.ly/35kbMuI.
