DICKINSON — Mason Lunzman did his job on the mound Tuesday.

The Jamestown High School baseball team took game No. 1 against Dickinson topping the Midgets 8-4. The Midgets rebounded in the second game and beat the Jays 4-1. The split moves the Jays to 7-1 in the WDA standings. The squad will be back in action on May 2 hosting Legacy. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
While game No. 1 was another win for the boys in blue, Dickinson gave them a fight right from the get-go.

After Jadon Bast retired three of the Jays' four batters, the Midgets capitalized on a pair of Blue Jay errors to take a 2-0 lead over the conference leaders in the bottom of the first.
The Midgets' lead lasted all of three batters.
On a 2-1 count, Carson Orr singled on a bunt, forced an error on Bast and sent both Brooks Roaldson and Reagan Sortland home to knot the score up at 2-2.
The Jays claimed its first lead of the night in the top of the fourth. Tyson Jorissen scored on an error in the outfield. The Jays led the rest of the way.
Lunzman lasted the full seven innings, allowing four runs on one hit. The senior walked three and finished out the night with seven strikeouts.
Roaldson led the Jays at the plate, going 2-for-3. Jorissen and Orr were 1-for-3 while Sortland was 0.500. Sortland also had a pair of RBIs.
