BISMARCK, N.D. — Things didn't start off too auspiciously for the Bismarck Century baseball team Thursday afternoon and the Jamestown High School squad took full advantage.

The Blue Jays improved their record to a perfect 4-0 with a 3-0, 5-0 sweep of the Patriots. The Jays will be back in action on Tuesday with a road game at Minot. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

After advancing to first on a hit-by-pitch, then to second on a walk and third on another hit-by-pitch, Blue Jay sophomore Thomas Newman took the plunge on a line drive by Brooks Roaldson.

Roaldson's hit turned into a double play but Newman made it home after tagging up to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.

Payton Hochhalter's score in the second was followed by four scoreless innings for the Blue Jays but the seven-inning affair ended with a score from junior Tyson Jorissen to seal the deal at 3-0.

Mason Lunzman and Jackson Walters toed the rubber for the Jays, Lunzman gave up two hits and no runs in his five innings pitched. The senior retired eight batters and walked zero. Walters capped game No. 1 off with a pair of K's and zero walks.

Joissen was the Jays' leader at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 and notching a triple in the bottom of the seventh. Hochhalter was 1-for-3. Roaldson, Fronk and Newman were all credited with an RBI.
