JAMESTOWN — On Wednesday, the entire state was notified who the best of the best were in the sport of Class A girls cross-country

The North Dakota High School Activities Association (NDHSAA) released the 2022 Class A Girls Cross Country All-State Team.

Layna Hoffer stepped over the line at 20:10 to end up 20th out of 173 Class A female runners. The time was the Blue Jay's best of the year.

Hoffer, an eighth grader at Jamestown Middle School, was the only member of the Blue Jay team to earn All-WDA honors this season. She was the team's No. 1 female runner all season long.

She consistently clocked times under the 23-minute mark and from the beginning of the season to the end, she shaved almost three minutes of time off her pace.
