JAMESTOWN — Andy Fitzgerald and the Blue Jays are starting off the January grind with a couple of tough matchups but they are battling to the end.
The Jays dropped 5-2 to Mandan Thursday evening. The loss puts them at 2-7 in the state standings and 3-7 overall. The Jays have got West Fargo United on Tuesday. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m at Wilson Arena.
Mandan jumped out to a 3-0 start but senior captain Bernadette Belzer cut the lead to two with a goal scored off an assist from Ellie Krueger to make it 3-1 Mandan.
Krueger followed up her assist with a goal to make it 3-2 Braves. Mandan capped off the night with two more goals to end it 5-2.
