After a hard-fought 5-4 loss to Williston Thursday night, the Jays were looking to get some wins on the books.

Get some wins they did.

The Jays took down Valley City 4-1 and dropped 3-2 to Williston in nonconference dual action to move to 1-7 overall.

Phoebe Olson, Olivia Schriock and Grace LeFevre dominated the team's singles matches against the Hi-Liners, with Olson nothing a 6-2, 6-1 win over Liz Comings while Schriock blanked Holly German 6-0, 6-2. LeFevre outscored Carmen Burvee 6-2 in both sets of the match.

Mya Henderson and Isabel LeFevre picked up the Jays' one win at doubles defeating their opponents 6-2, 6-2.

After getting win No. 1 under its belt, the team rallied and went to work against Williston but their efforts fell just short.

The squad will be on the road on Tuesday in the capital city. Jamestown is slated to take on Bismarck High at noon with a match against Bismarck Legacy to follow at 4:30 p.m.
