FARGO — The Fargo Davies Eagles fast-paced play earned the team a 64-46 win over Jamestown in a North Dakota Boy's Basketball State Tournament quarterfinal on Thursday at the Fargodome.

Quick transitions and ball movement have been a staple of Davies' game throughout the postseason. The Eagles' pace forced the Blue Jays to adjust rapidly.
The Eagles' Raymond Brown said his team's speed is a product of head coach Bart Manson.
"(Manson) preaches tempo," Brown said. “We come out and we have to play fast. But we also have to play smart.”
Brown made his presence felt all over the court, finishing with 27 points, and seven rebounds.

The Eagles maintained the upper hand throughout the first half and held the Blue Jay’s to six field goals. Davies led 30-20 at halftime.

Jamestown’s shooting ability was not undervalued, Manson said.
“They’re all such good shooters,” Manson said of the Blue Jays. “So we wanted to make sure that we got to their shooters, and I thought for the most part we did a pretty good job of that.”
The game plan pressured Jamestown into 13 for 57 shooting from the field and the Blue Jays hit just 3 of 17 3-pointers.
The Eagles continued to exert dominance on both ends of the court in the second half with 34 points and six steals.
“Defensively, I thought we were fantastic,” Manson said. “We had our hands in the passing lanes and made it difficult for them to step in and walk into some 3s and that was a key for us.”

Davies shot 23 of 60 from the floor and they hit 15 of 21 free throws. Dan Yorke had 12 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals. Alpha Camara had for seven points, three steals and three blocks.
Jamestown's Payton Hochhalter, who took a beating in the game, finished with 15 points, including 11 of 16 free throws, and 15 rebounds. Thomas Newman had 11 points and three rebounds. Dalton Lamp scored nine points with five rebounds and two steals.

Blue Jay head coach Jacoby Lloyd said his team needs to get back to playing to their strengths.
“The biggest thing is playing with more passion, more desire, more toughness, and a higher basketball intelligence,” Lloyd said. “That wasn’t the team I prepped this week.”

Jamestown will play a consolation semifinals game against Minot at noon on Friday at the Fargodome.
The Eagles play a semifinals game against Grand Forks Red River at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Scheels Center. The team has a few adjustments it needs to continue its tournament run, Brown said.
“We've just got to play smarter and move the ball around more and lock down on defense,” Brown said.
