West Fargo’s Schafer, Anderson capture state girls wrestling titles

Two West Fargo Packers claimed individual state championships on Friday during the North Dakota high school state girls wrestling tournament at the Fargodome.

FARGO — Two West Fargo Packers claimed individual state championships on Friday during the North Dakota high school state girls wrestling tournament at the Fargodome.

West Fargo’s Alana Schafer earned the first North Dakota High School Activities Association-sponsored girls wrestling individual state title with a pin over LaMoure-Litchville-Marion’s Karyssa Meidinger at 120 pounds in 2 minutes, 50 seconds.

The Packers’ Lindsey Anderson followed with a 4-0 decision over Valley City’s Mylee Christianson at 125.

West Fargo Sheyenne’s Morgan Strandberg took the title at 115 with a pin in 1:17 over Bismarck Legacy’s Elizabeth Youboty.

Avery Mohr of Fargo Davies earned a state title at 130 with a pin over Central Cass’ Grace Lemar in 4:47.


Jenna Gerhardt of Devils Lake was named the NDHSCA girls wrestling senior athlete of the year. She won the state title at 105 with a pin over Central Cass’ Anna White in 0:44 to cap an undefeated season.

Central Cass’ Travis Lemar was named NDHSCA coach of the year.
