There was a lot of firepower standing around the center ice circle pregame Tuesday night at John L. Wilson Arena.

The Jamestown High School boys hockey team honored eight seniors-all of them have played major roles for the Blue Jays this season. The seniors have combined for 117 points, 53 goals, 67 assists and goalie Matthew Schneider also has a 91-percent save percentage.

"They're a group that's been together since they've been 3 or 4 years old," Stockert said. "It's kind of bittersweet to be honest that it's coming to an end but I think the mentality they've had over the years in the locker room is all about making memories.

"If we keep extending the season the more memories there are."

The seniors wasted no time as five Blue Jays contributed a point in a 6-0 victory over Mandan. Overall the seniors had eight points in the victory.

"It's definitely a good way to end the homestand," Stockert said. "For eight guys it's the last time they play in the barn. It's always good to come out with a win and more importantly I thought we played a pretty good hockey game tonight."

Three seniors contributed on the opening goal. Forward Devin Hofmann scored off a slapper from fellow 12th-graders Connor Fuchs and Baylee Hattlewick.

"Offensively we were trying to make plays, which is always nice to see and I think when some of those plays start clicking and happening it's a good thing moving forward," Stockert said.

The Blue Jays also got a look into the future as freshman Jace Thompson scored a hat trick in the victory. Thompson had four goals on the season prior to Tuesday.

"He played well," Stockert said. "He finally started to put the puck in the net on some of his opportunities. The past couple weeks he's had some of those opportunities and they just haven't gone in the back of the net for him-they went in tonight."

Thompson first beat Mandan goalie Maysion Mattern low on a shot from the slot to double up Jamestown's lead. He scored the lone goal of the second period on a cross-ice pass from Fuchs for the tap in. He finalized the hat trick after sniping a shot on the backhand past the goalie to give the Blue Jays a 4-0 lead.

Senior Parker Stockert got his seventh goal of the year and Hofmann notched his 21st.

Jamestown managed to draw six penalties and capitalized on two of them.

For Mandan, Mattern made 44 saves for the Braves on 50 shot attempts. Schneider stopped all 19 shots in the shutout victory.

Jamestown travels to Bismarck High on Thursday for the regular season finale before the Class A West Region Tournament begins in Minot on Feb. 15.

Girls fall at Mandan

The Blue Jay girls hockey team allowed just two goals in the second period to the Braves in Mandan on Tuesday, and fell by the final of 2-0.
Goalie Erin Anderson made 37 saves for Jamestown, as Mandan outshot the Jays 39-6. The Blue Jays host Dickinson on Thursday.
