Smith sends Cards to state

NR-S, who needed to win three straight contests to be Region 3 champions, nearly pulled off the feat. The Rockets defeated Midkota-Dakota Prairie-Griggs County Central 12-3 in a loser-out game and beat Carrington 19-9 in five innings, sending Region 3 to a deciding contest.

Carrington is headed to the Class B state tournament for a fifth straight spring. The three-day state tourney begins May 30 at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo.
