The University of Jamestown men's soccer team had its three-match winning streak snapped Saturday afternoon at the Jimmie Turf Field, as Midland (Neb.) University took a 2-1 victory in overtime.

Mike Eijgendaal converted a penalty kick 1:25 into overtime for the game-winner.

Aaron Pike gave Jamestown the lead in the 24th minute with his team-high eighth goal of the season. Eric Fairtlough's shot attempt was parried away by Midland keeper Matthew Ricci, but not far enough out of Pike's range. As Ricci dived to his left, Pike had a clear path to the net and took advantage.

Scoring chances were few in the first 45 minutes. Both teams had two shots on goal, and the Jimmies had two more shots off target.

Midland pressed forward early and often in the second half, and finally got on the scoreboard in the 58th minute. Jezreel Mata headed in a corner kick by Eli Draves for the equalizer.

Eijgendaal nearly gave the Warriors a second goal less than a minute later, but Kevin Ndeti made a superb block on the shot attempt to keep the match level at 1-1.

Fairtlough had UJ's last shot in regulation with 7:54 left, however, it sailed high over the crossbar.

Jake Askew recorded four saves for Jamestown (6-7 overall, 3-4 Great Plains Athletic Conference).

Next up for the Jimmies is a road match on Thursday at Dordt (Iowa) University. Match time is set for 3:15 p.m.
