The University of Jamestown womens soccer team dropped its first match of the season Thursday evening. The Jimmies lost 2-1 in double overtime to Hastings College at the Broncos' home venue.

UJ did strike first as Briana Perry drilled the ball past Hastings' goalkeeper Sarah Carpenter in the third minute of the match. With four minutes down in the second half, Dekota Schubert tied the match off an assist from Jaqueline Gilbert. Gilbert went solo to score the game-winner in the 103rd minute. Both UJ and Hastings now stand at 3-1.

The Jimmies will be back on the field to face Doane University on Saturday. The match is slated to begin at 1 p.m. with the men's' match to follow at 3:30 p.m.

Hastings delivers Jimmies second loss

The Jimmies could not hold for the win Thursday evening in Nebraska.

Hastings College downed the UJ mens soccer team 5-2 in the Jimmies' second game of the season. The Jimmies fell to 0-2 while Hastings remains undefeated at 3-0.

Ruben Zepeda scored both Jimmie goals, the second of which gave the visiting team a one-goal advantage until Hastings found its rhythm late in the first half. The Broncos scored four goals in the last 27 minutes of play.

The Jimmies will be at Doane University on Saturday.
