The 18U Jamestown Outlaws softball team placed in the top four teams at the Mt. Rushmore Classic on June 26-28 in Rapid City, South Dakota.
Jamestown went 2-1 in pool play, cruising 10-4 over Midwest United of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and 6-1 over Black Hills Synergy, moving on to compete in the Division I portion of the tournament. The Outlaws beat the Sioux Falls Fury 2-1 to advance to the tournament's quarterfinals where they won 9-6 over North Dakota Elite.
The Outlaws' tournament came to an end with a 9-3 loss to the Rapid City Crush in the semifinals.
Jamestown's Katie Falk batted 8-for-16 (.500) during the tournament with a double, a trio of RBIs and eight runs scored. Makenna Jackson batted .412 (7-for-17) with a double, seven runs scored and three RBIs. Both Rachel Schiele and Jenna Fischer batted .375 (6-for-16) with a pair of doubles, while Schiele drove in five runs and scored six times and Fischer drove in a pair and scored four.
Sid Kautz and Rylee Joseph also helped lead the Outlaws offensively in South Dakota. Kautz recorded a triple and a double, driving in six runs. Joseph went 5-for-14 with two doubles, four RBIs and a pair of runs scored.
The 18U Jamestown Outlaws are coached by Mike Soulis and Jason Falk. Jamestown's next game is tomorrow (July 1) hosting Mandan at Trapper Field beginning at 5:30 p.m.
