Jamestown's IDK Soldiers won the North Dakota Rec. 1 men's slowpitch softball tournament held Aug. 8-9 in Mandan.

The Soldiers were undefeated through the tournament's first five games, walking off four by scoring a run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Jamestown played Fischer/AVC/Southview Liquors/Spur Bar -- or simply, Spur Bar -- out of Dickinson for the championship in the double-elimination tournament.

Spur Bar saddled the Soldiers with their first loss at 17-14, but a 10-run barrage by Jamestown in the top of the seventh of Game 2 clinched the title. The Soldiers turned away their Dickinson counterparts 29-15 in the finale.

Local team members hoisting the state's Rec. 1 trophy in 2020 included Seth Hatlewick, Levi Serfoss, John Ness, Jason Bitz, Blaze Culliton, Justin Connell, Kyle Johnson, Jared Connell, Levi Gaunska, Shannon Weist, Jordan Padilla and Ryan Iliff.
