Sport shorts: Cabin Fever Days events announced

The Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department announced the lineup of Cabin Fever Days events on Jan. 18.

Feb. 6: Pickleball tournament at Two Rivers Activity Center (TRAC). Registrations should be turned in at TRAC. Any questions should be referred to 952-8722.

Feb. 6: There will be open skating at Wilson Arena from 6-7 p.m. and 7:30-8:30 p.m. Attendees should use the south concourse entrance. Check John L. Wilson Facebook page for time changes.

Feb. 12: Pinochle Tournament at 10 a.m. at the Hillcrest Pro Shop. The cost is $10 per person. Snacks will be provided. Registrants can register at the Parks & Recreation. The tournament is limited to 36 players signed up and paid.

Feb. 12: There will be free wagon rides at the Bunker, 1-4 p.m.

Jimmie men's volleyball tickets on sale

Single-game tickets for the 2022 University of Jamestown men's volleyball team are now on sale.

The Jimmies, who finished fifth at the 2021 NAIA National Tournament, will officially start their 2022 season with a trip to No. 4 Park (Mo.) University on Jan. 27 at 7 p.m.

UJ, currently ranked sixth in the NAIA, will host five home matches at Harold Newman Arena this season. The Jimmies return three All-Americans, the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Conference Player of the Year, GPAC Setter of the Year and GPAC Libero of the Year.

Jamestown opens the home schedule on Feb. 10 against Ottawa (Kan.) University at 7 p.m.

On Feb. 12, the Jimmies will host Morningside University at 1 p.m. while on Feb. 24, the Jimmies will compete against Central Christian University at 7 p.m.

Faculty Appreciation Afternoon will be on Feb. 26, when the Jimmies host Kansas Wesleyan University at 1 p.m.

Parents and Senior Night will take place on March 14 at 5 p.m. (JV match) and 7 p.m. (varsity match) against Dordt University.
