Sport shorts: Three Jimmies awarded GPAC honors

Maston Walters, a sophomore for the University of Jamestown men's basketball team, was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) men's basketball player of the week. Walters had two double-doubles for UJ last week averaging 24.5 points, five assists and 14.5 rebounds. In the Jimmies' 85-73 win over Morningside Walters finished with 22 points, 17 rebounds and was 9 of 11 shooting.

Jackie Meiklejohn, a junior setter for the UJ women's volleyball team, earned GPAC setter-of-the-week honors. Meiklejohn put up big numbers for the Jimmies Friday night recording 25 assists and 14 digs in the sweep of Morningside. On Saturday, Meiklejohn recorded 30 assists and 12 digs in Jamestown's five-set win over Northwestern College for the GPAC regular-season title.

Ruben Zepeda was named the GPAC men's soccer offensive player of the week after UJ's 11-2 win over Presentation College. Zepeda set a school record with five goals in the contest. The senior Jimmie added an assist to finish the game with 11 points.
