Sport Shorts: YFC golf tourney, Outlaws win tourney

The annual Youth For Christ Golf Tournament was held Saturday, June 12th, at Hillcrest Golf Course in Jamestown, while the Jamestown 14A fastpitch softball team competed in Bismarck last weekend.

YFC annual golf tourney

The annual Youth For Christ Golf Tournament was held Saturday, June 12th, at Hillcrest Golf Course in Jamestown.

Teams competed in a mix of three types of golf play. Six holes of scramble play, six holes of best ball, and six holes of one ball team play. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the work of Youth For Christ in the Jamestown and Valley City areas.

YFC runs an after-school drop-in center, Campus Life programs, Bible studies, summer events, camps, and adventure outings for 11 to 19-year-old students. For more information see their website at jamesvalleyYFC.org.

Group A winners:

1st place - Ken McDougall, Jon Lillejord, Kirk Heim, Ron Hemmer.

2nd place – Jason Bitz, Landon Rachel, Daniel White, Brian Mistro.

3rd place – Christian Cairy, Corey Theis, Sam Liechty, Brandon Bondley.

Group B winners:

1st place – Gary Wolf, Kai Backen, Quincy Backen, Amber Backen.

2nd place - Jon powers, Casey Harkness, Cogretti Parisien, Brent Brunner.

3rd place – Kirk Doctor, Ron Buchholz, Doug Holstrom, Larry Seim.

Outlaws place first

The Jamestown 14A fastpitch softball team competed at the Bismarck Blast 14A tournament last weekend.

The Outlaws placed first in the tourney beating Minot 8-5, Bismarck 23-11, Beulah 11-6 and Dickinson 8-1 in the championship game 8-1. The Outlaws are undefeated so far this season with a 4-0 record.
