Blue Jay Training Camp starts Monday

Blue Jay Training Camp starts Monday for grades 6-12 at Jamestown High School. There will be separate sessions for high school boys and girls and middle school athletes.

High school strength training goes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with boys at 5:45 a.m., girls at 6:45 a.m. and combined at 7:45 a.m. The limit for these sessions is 60 individuals. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, there will be one movement session for boys at 5:45 a.m. and girls at 6:45 a.m. Numbers are unlimited.

Middle school training will have a session at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Middle school athletes can also attend the Tuesday-Thursday high school sessions.

High school training is $50 and middle school is $25. Brochures can be picked up at the high school and middle school offices. Contact coach Bill Nelson at william.nelson1@k12.nd.us with any questions.

Bike safety rodeo Thursday

A bike safety rodeo, sponsored by the James Valley Fraternal Order of Police, Jamestown Parks and Recreation, Central Valley Health, Jamestown Optimists and Newman Signs, will be held on Thursday at Wilson Arena.

Time is from 1:30-4 p.m. Use the East doors. Free bike helmets will be provided, while supplies last.

The rodeo includes a safety course for children to ride bikes through. Also, officials from the police department and parks and rec will be on hand to inspect bikes, tires and brakes for safety.

The Parks Program at Leapaldt Park, Nickeus Park, McElroy Park and Meidinger Park will not be open Thursday afternoon.

Wednesday track meets in June

The Jamestown Parks and Recreation Department is hosting summer track meets every Wednesday in June, beginning at 5 p.m. at Taylor Stadium.

Competition levels are 5 and over, 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15, 16-17 and 18 and over.

Events include "Guess Your Time" Mile, 50, 100, 200 and 400-meter dashes, 4x100 relay and softball throw.

Parking is available in the East parking lot.

Two amateur games here tonight

Twilight League amateur baseball action resumes tonight with a doubleheader at Jack Brown Stadium.

At 6 p.m., the Jamestown Tarno Townies face the Jamestown Greyhounds, followed by the Jamestown Elks taking on the Jamestown Miller Lite Merchants.
