Local YFC golf tourney winners

James Valley Youth for Christ held its annual golf tournament on June 20 at Hillcrest Golf Course in Jamestown.

Optimist Club Team I, consisting of Ken McDougal, Joe Burgard, Kirk Heim and Jeremy Heim placed first in the scratch division, followed by the second-place team of Dave Barnick, Randy Blaskowski, Kane Barnick and Mike Stoller, and the third-place team of Landon Rachel, Mickey White, Daniel White and Jason Bitz.

The Cole Paper team of Kirk Dockter, Larry Siem, Doug Holstrom and Ron Bucholz placed first in the handicap division, followed by the second-place team of Seve Powers, John Powers, Casey Harkness and Kyle Olson, and the third-place team of Chuck Abrahamson, Jon Liechty, Paul Frietag and Shawn O'Neill.

Hillcrest men's day winners

The Hillcrest Men's Golf Association held its weekly men's day event on June 25 at the course.

Closest to the pin winners were Ron Qual on hole 7 (16 feet, 5 1/2 inches), Dennis Wiest on hole 8 (8-6), Roger Koenig on hole 15 (23-4) and Jason Vogel on hole 17 (11-1). Dion Schlenker connected for the closest second shot on hole 2 (6-10).

Kevin Miller sank the longest putt on hole 5 (21-0). Mike Jarland won both the deuce pot and the mystery game, while Glenn Johnson won the door prize.

Blue Jay Scramble scheduled

Hillcrest Golf Course will host the Blue Jay Scramble on July 25.

The four-person scramble will be a shotgun start at 9 a.m. with the $50 registration covering green fees, mulligans, hole prizes and a pizza lunch.
