Timberwolves will shop Jefferson if Darko returns

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Now that the draft has come and gone, the Timberwolves can finally turn their focus completely to free agency and Al Jefferson's future in Minnesota.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Now that the draft has come and gone, the Timberwolves can finally turn their focus completely to free agency and Al Jefferson's future in Minnesota.

Team president David Kahn says that means now is the time for the team to consider trading Jefferson. Kahn says he will weigh his options regarding shipping Jefferson if the team is successful in re-signing center Darko Milicic.

Kahn says he will only move Jefferson if he gets a significant return from another team. Jefferson averaged 17.1 points and 9.3 rebounds last season in his first year back from major knee surgery.

Jefferson was the lynchpin of the blockbuster deal that sent star Kevin Garnett to Boston in 2008. He emerged as one of the best low-post offensive players in the league before he was injured in February of 2009.

It is believed that Kevin Love could also be available, but he has a more friendly contract than Jefferson.
