Jimmies compete at national championships

University of Jamestown's Kristin Breaux, Carmen DeVries, Meghan Orr and Kylee Voigt broke the school record in the women's 1,600-meter relay on Friday at the NAIA outdoor track and field championships in Gulf Shores, Ala.

The team clocked a time of 3 minutes, 53.44 seconds in the prelims, finishing 15th of 21 teams.

DeVries also finished 29th in the triple jump (11.07 meters), while UJ's Julia Johnson finished 22nd in the event (11.22).

UJ seniors Matt Young and Allison Foster wrapped up their careers Saturday in the national marathon events in Gulf Shores. Young placed 10th (2:50:3.42) in the men's race and Foster placed 34th (3:56.38.19) in the women's race.
