Summer track back on
Jamestown Parks and Rec announced Wednesday, June 5, it has reconsidered its previous decision to cancel its collaborative summer track program with the University of Jamestown.
The program will be held June 12, June 19, June 26 and July 10 beginning at 5 p.m. at UJ's Rollie Greeno Field. Age levels range from 5 years old to 18 and over, and events will include the 50 (meters), 100, 200, 400, 800, 1,600, softball throw and the standing long jump.
The meets are free and no registration is required. Ribbons will be awarded to the top five finishers and those attending are asked to use the parking lot east of Rollie Greeno.

Hillcrest ladies' day winners
Erma Mogck connected for the closest second shot of 18 feet, 3 inches on Hole 2 during June 4 ladies' day activities at Hillcrest Golf Course.
Coralynn Dallman was the mystery game winner, posting the best score on odd-numbered holes at 43. Arlene Rexine hit the longest drive on No. 13 and Mogck won the door prize.
UJ hires shooting sports coach
University of Jamestown recently elevated its co-ed trapshooting club to a competitive intercollegiate shooting sports program and has hired Hunter Edwards as its first full-time coach.
UJ's shooting sports team will continue to focus on trapshooting during both the fall and spring, and a competitive archery component is slated to be added in the future. Edwards is a graduate of Midland University (Neb.).
