The University of Jamestown's Kat Miska and Morgan Geiszler have been named the Great Plains Athletic Conference softball pitcher and player of the week, respectively, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
Miska, a junior from Pequot Lakes, Minnesota, and receiving the honor for a third team this season, came within two outs of a perfect game in a one-hit, 6-0 victory hosting Briar Cliff last Saturday. Miska struck out 11 and did not allow the Chargers to put a ball in play until the fourth inning.
Miska allowed one earned run over five innings in a 12-2 win against Dordt on April 7, finishing the week with a 2-0 record and an ERA of 0.58. She held opponents to a .100 average and struck out 21 in 12 innings.
