University of Jamestown junior catcher Quinn Irey has signed with the Bismarck Larks.

The Larks, a Northwoods League expansion team set to begin its first season this spring, announced the signing of Irey on Tuesday. Irey posted a batting average of .377 with four home runs and 51 RBI for the Jimmies in 2016.

Originally from Bismarck, Irey was a multi-sport athlete and played on two state championship teams for Bismarck High in baseball and hockey. Irey grew up watching the St. Cloud River Bats of the Northwoods League.

"I was born in St. Cloud and grew up watching the (River Bats) play," Irey stated in a University of Jamestown press release. "Now, I'm looking forward to heading back and actually playing them this season."

The Northwoods League is a 20-team, collegiate summer developmental baseball league consisting of a 72-game schedule. The majority of teams are in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
