MINNEAPOLIS — The Vikings on Wednesday designated nose tackle Michael Pierce to return from injured reserve, and he took part in a walk-through practice. Pierce has missed the past seven games due to an elbow injury, and head coach Mike Zimmer said he is hopeful he will play Sunday at Detroit.

Vikings running back Dalvin Cook, who was lost for the game after suffering a shoulder injury last Sunday at San Francisco, did not practice. Cook could miss the Vikings’ next two games, Sunday at Detroit and Dec. 9 at home against Pittsburgh.

Also not practicing were linebacker Anthony Barr (hamstring), tackle Christian Darrisaw (ankle), safety Camryn Bynum (ankle) and linebacker Ryan Connelly (quadriceps). Barr was lost in the third quarter of the 34-26 loss to the 49ers and Darrisaw went out in the fourth quarter. Bynum sat out that game.

The Vikings called their practice report an estimation due to it being a walk-through. Listed as limited were cornerbacks McKensie Alexander (ribs) and Bashaud Breeland (groin), linebackers Eric Kendricks (arm) and Nick Vigil (ribs) and defensive linemen Sheldon Richardson (knee) and Armon Watts (knee).
