Niemeier named HM All-American
University of Jamestown women's volleyball libero Julina Niemeier was named NAIA All-American honorable mention Tuesday, Dec. 4.
Niemeier, a senior and former all-state volleyball selection at Jamestown High School, led the 24-9 Jimmies in 2018 with 624 digs, sixth-most in a single season by a Jimmie athlete. She also finished her career at UJ sixth all-time in career digs at 1,508 and was selected as the 2018 Great Plains Athletic Conference libero of the year.
The Jimmies qualified for the NAIA national championship tournament for a third consecutive season this fall, falling to Viterbo (Wisc.) in a single-set tiebreaker on Nov. 29 in Sioux City, Iowa, to come up just short of advancing to the final round of 16 teams for a second straight year.
Niemeier was selected honorable mention All-American by the NAIA Volleyball All-America Selection Committee, which selects a first, second and third team, plus honorable mention choices.
