Optimist's weekly top performers

Rachel Schiele, Erin Anderson, Noelle Josephson and Matt Hernandez were selected Jamestown Optimist Club athletes of the week.

Schiele, a JHS sophomore gymnast, led the Blue Jays in three events and was the floor champion at the Dickinson Invite on Dec. 7. Her third-place score in the all-around (36.575) was a career third-best.

Anderson, a junior goalie for Blue Jay girls hockey, saved 55-of-59 shots (92 percent) to help the Blue Jays to a 1-1 weekend record. Her 36 saves Dec. 8 led the way in a 5-1 victory at Williston.

Josephson, a freshman Jimmie women's basketball player from Ramsey, Minn., averaged 17.5 points and 9.5 rebounds at Morningside (Iowa) and Presentation (S.D.).

Hernandez, a senior Jimmie men's wrestler from Kenosha, Wisc., placed fourth at 184 pounds during the Doane Invite in Crete, Neb., on Dec. 8. Hernandez recorded a pin and three decision, while dropping two decisions each by a single point.

Blue Jay wrestling ranked fifth

Jamestown High School wrestling moved to fifth in the latest North Dakota Class A Wrestling Coaches' Poll. Bismarck High (1), Dickinson (2), Bismarck Century (3) and Minot (4) are all in front of the Blue Jays.

Eight Jamestown wrestlers are also ranked. They include: eighth-grader Aden Braun (106 pounds, ranked 2nd), senior Ethan Bowman (132, 2), eighth-grader Colton Mewes (138, 6), junior Noah Braun (152, 2), junior Johnny Browning (160, 6), senior Aaron Mack (182, 2), Samuel Krebs (195, 5) and senior Paul Vandal (220, 4).

Blue Jays hold at No. 2

Jamestown High School boys held steady at No. 2 in the latest Class A basketball media rankings released Wednesday, Dec. 12.

The Blue Jays (3-0) received one first-place vote and trail Fargo Davies (4-0) by 19 points. The Blue Jay girls are receiving votes in the latest girls poll.

The polls are voted on by members of the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.
