Letter to the editor: Republicans sabotaging ethics measure
Remember the ethics commission, Measure 1, passed by North Dakota voters in November? The Republican majority in Bismarck are doing a “frontal assault” to sabotage the measure just like they did with the medical marijuana initiated measure. Rep. Chet Pollert, who I have given...

Letter to the editor: Bus issue at TRAC sends clear message to rural communities
I grew up in Jamestown and used to be very proud to say so. Having been a rural resident for 36 years, my perspective on Jamestown has changed.

Letter to the editor: Legislators should not weaken approved Measure 1
The people of North Dakota have voted. We voted for Measure 1 which is now Article 14 of our North Dakota Constitution. We voted for this ethics measure because we believe in fairness and honesty, and because in previous legislative sessions our legislators refused to act.

Letter to the editor: Beware of HB 1388
Proponents of weakening our state’s current anti-corporate farming law are now using “second cousins” as a foil to do so in HB 1388. Our law, which 75 percent of North Dakotans supported at the ballot box in 2016, needs no tweaking or amending.

Letter to the editor: It is reckless to pass abortion ban without exceptions
Who could possibly need to terminate a pregnancy after 20 weeks? Our family needed that medical option and we are not alone.

Letter to the editor: Time to take off the blinders
This is in response to the recent letters by Karen Gumke and Mark Schuttenhelm. Both letters are prime examples of the unhinged hate and rage that have completely consumed the “Trumpublican” party.

Letter to the Editor: Support HB 1040, renewing the Automation Tax Credit
House Bill 1040, renewing the Automation Tax Credit, is critical legislation to empower manufacturing and construction companies doing business in North Dakota. The legislation would support the companies to purchase new equipment to advance state of the art production methods with...

Letter to the Editor: Omdahl should have told ‘the rest of the story’
I enjoy reading Lloyd Omdahl’s articles, but I find the latest one a little misleading. He fails to give the "rest of the story" as Paul Harvey used to say.First of all, let's dispel the notion that the ethics measure was a groundswell of primarily North Dakotans looking to better...

Letter to the Editor: Adherence to Constitution would settle impasse over border wall
When the first wave of migrants heading north from Central America to the U.S. was described as an “invasion,” leftists went into hysterics over the word “invasion.” They insisted it was just a “caravan” of asylum seekers. Ever eager to promote the leftist spin, mainstream...

Letter to the editor: Hypocrisy of Democrats on display
The rank hypocrisy of the Democrat Party has been on full display recently. No, I'm not referring to the fact that most of the men discovered to be woman abusers by the “me too” movement were Democrats. No, It's not the 1,500 private jets full of Democrats that just descended...

Letter to the editor: HB 1388: ‘Simple’ tweak has big time implications
Two years ago, 75 percent of North Dakotans voted in favor of family farms. Last year, a district court upheld the constitutionality of our law. Despite that, the North Dakota Legislature is yet again taking up a bill to weaken the corporate farming law.

Letter to the editor: Bill can help provide access to dental care
In response to the letter stating that “every North Dakotan deserves a fully trained dentist,” as a hygienist, I couldn’t agree more. This is why passing House Bill 1426 can help to provide access to dental care for North Dakota families and allow North Dakotans to have more...

Letter to the editor: Nation will pay dearly for abortion
It was with utter horror and dismay that I listened to raucous enthusiasm, cheering and clapping as the New York Legislature celebrated the most depraved, incomprehensible abortion law passed to date in our nation. It was one more shattering blow leveled at the most helpless and...

Letter to the editor: No trespass bill is short sighted
In every session of the North Dakota Legislature it seems a no trespass bill comes forward from a small group of people. Thankfully it has always been soundly defeated in the past as a bill that is a perennial bad idea in a new coat of paint. Our current recreational access law...
