"We could smell it first thing in the morning; it was bad," said Washington, Kansas, resident Dana Cecrle, 56. He shrugged off the disruption: "Stuff breaks. Pipelines break, oil trains derail."
Keystone shut the line at about 8 p.m. CT on Wednesday after alarms went off and system pressure dropped, the company said in a release, saying booms were being used to contain the creek.
Joye Braun, 53, died Sunday, Nov. 13, at her home in Eagle Butte, South Dakota, her obituary said.
Calgary, Alberta-based TC is widely known for its Keystone oil pipeline, a critical artery for moving Canadian oil to U.S. refiners that dominated headlines over the past decade for an expansion that ultimately failed. But moving natural gas around the United States, Canada and Mexico is the bigger part of TC's business.
